Vehicle tarpaulins for fixed superstructure

1. Double cab truck tarpaulin

The tarpaulin of a double cab truck is generally built up to the upper horizontal line of the cab. The design can combine different fixing solutions. The most common of these in the vertical direction is the “LASSO” also known as “QUICK-TIE” technology. In the horizontal direction, it can be secured to the superstructure by means of a customs seal, a bungee cord or a swiveling fixing lug.

The superstructure is often completed with a roof rack. We can also assist our customers in the manufacture of awning frames and various accessories (e.g. roof racks).

2. Truck tarpaulin under 3,5 tonnes gross weight

The height of a van’s tarpaulin generally varies between 1.8 and 2.3 metres. This size is determined by the size of the load being transported, so size variations are possible.  The design can combine different fixing solutions. The most common of these in the vertical direction is the “LASSO” also known as “QUICK-TIE” technology. In addition to this, customs sealing is a common requirement. In this case, only a strap is acceptable in the vertical direction. In the horizontal direction, the tarpaulin may be secured to the bodywork by means of a customs seal, a bungee cord or a swiveling anchorage lug. Quick loading is facilitated by the curtain track side design. This solution can be retrofitted to existing structures.

We can also assist our customers with the awning frame and various accessories (e.g. side curtain retrofitting).

3. Truck tarpaulin over 3,5 tonnes gross vehicle weight

The height of a truck’s tarpaulin usually varies between 1.8 and 2.5 metres. This size is determined by the size of the load being transported, so size variations are possible.  The design can combine different fixing solutions. The most important consideration in the choice of tarpaulin anchorage is the nature of the load and the frequency of tarpaulin breakdown. In the vertical direction, in addition to the “LASSO”, also known as “QUICK-TIE” technology, using aluminium profile for tensioning is also a popular method. In addition to this, customs sealing is a common requirement. In the horizontal direction, the tarpaulin may be secured to the bodywork by means of a customs seal, a tensioning strap with a buckle or a swiveling anchorage lug. Quick loading is facilitated by the curtain track side design. This solution can be retrofitted to existing structures.

We can also assist our customers with the awning frame and various accessories (e.g. side curtain retrofitting).

4. Semi-trailer tarpaulin

When designing the tarpaulin of a semi-trailer, different fixing solutions can be combined. The most important consideration in the choice of tarpaulin anchorage is the nature of the load and the frequency of tarpaulin breakdown. Nowadays, curtain track locking is becoming more and more common. Whether or not the semi-trailer has a side wall will affect the horizontal design of the tarpaulin anchorage. This has a big influence on the choice of tarpaulin fixing. Depending on the type of trailer bodywork, you can choose between a customs seal or a buckle fastening. In the vertical direction, the tarpaulin can be fixed by means of a “lasso”, a strap or a tensioner with a profiled bottom. Quick loading is facilitated by the curtain track side design. This solution can be retrofitted to existing structures. We can also assist our customers with the awning frame and various accessories (e.g. side curtain retrofitting).

5. Tandem trailer train

When designing the tarpaulin of the assembly, different fixing solutions can be combined. The most important consideration in the choice of tarpaulin anchorage is the nature of the load and the frequency of tarpaulin breakdown. Nowadays, curtain tarpaulin is becoming more and more common. Whether or not the semi-trailer has a side wall will affect the horizontal design for fastening the tarpaulin. This has a big influence on the choice of tarpaulin fixing. Depending on the type of trailer bodywork, you can choose between a customs seal or a buckle fastening. In the vertical direction, the tarpaulin can be secured by means of a “lashing strap”, a “buckle strap” or a tensioner with a profiled bottom. Quick loading is facilitated by the curtain track side design. This solution can be retrofitted to existing structures. We can also assist our customers with the awning frame and various accessories (e.g. side curtain retrofitting).

6. Specially designed tarpaulins

In over two decades of operation, we have been approached by customers with countless requests for special structures. It is difficult to give a comprehensive overview of specific awning solutions, as the design of the superstructure is always specific and tailored to individual needs. Some solutions, just to cite a few examples:

  1. A superstructure for transporting soda water. A design consideration is the quick removal and installation of the side tarpaulin.
  2. Livestock transport truck: the aspect of quick loading and unloading of the side tarpaulin. In addition, it is lightning fast to remove.
  3. Pet transport semi-trailer: the side tarpaulin is made of ventilated PVC mesh, can be extended laterally like a curtain.
  4. Semi-trailer tarpaulin, converted to a roll-up side tarpaulin solution. The special design of the tarpaulin was necessary because of the crane’s ability to transport bulk goods.

7. Flat Blankets

The flat tarpaulin provides a quick and stable solution. The advantage is that it can be folded up and stored in a small space, and quickly placed on the platform. The disadvantage is that the height loading is limited.

It is typically fastened using bungee cords, which keeps the tarpaulin continuously taut. We mainly use the flat tarpaulin for vans and trailer bodies.

You do not necessarily need to transport the vehicle to our premises to install the tarpaulin. Based on pre-agreed dimensions and with professional advice, the installation of the prepared blanket can also be carried out at home.

8. Inner tarpaulin - Grain transport tarpaulin

We can make the dry cargo area of a dry cargo trailer suitable for transporting garbage or other bulk goods by constructing an internal tarpaulin. The height of the tarpaulin is determined by the nature of the goods. We can make several rows of tarpaulins going higher, so you can adjust the size of the tarpaulin to the size of the goods you are transporting.

There are various methods of securing the tarpaulin to the load securing battens on the superstructure:

  1. The tarpaulin is vulcanised with a pocket at the top edge, onto which the load securing slat slides.
  2. A metal clamp is fixed to the load-securing slat, and the completed inner platform is hung on this clamp.
